Public Management Support Program (Plurianual Plans-PPAs) | The Program encourages regional socioeconomic development, supports the modernization and qualification of municipal public management through the use of planning as a management tool. As a result, the municipalities that have Klabin's operations, whether forestry or manufacturing, can use public resources more efficiently. On the other hand, the company registers a decrease in welfare and non-structuring demands. | Strengthening the management capacity of municipal governments and greater efficiency in the application of public resources. (76% of the municipal administrations say they are very satisfied with the monitoring and actions carried out). Through the Public Management Support Program, the company provided specialized consultancy in planning and supported the preparation of Multi-Year Plans (PPAs) for the new municipal administrations in 14 cities in the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina, São Paulo and Pernambuco, with the definition of more than 2140 actions in total. |
Decrease in welfare and non-structuring demands. |
Social progress indices - IPS |
The indicators generated by the IPS serve to evaluate the social programs developed by Klabin in Paraná. The company has social programs in the areas of planning, education, family farming and solid waste, and the IPS helps to measure the value that each of these initiatives delivers to the communities. | The IPS helps provide diagnoses and tools for Klabin's regions to develop in a planned and structured way, thus being prepared to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. IPS indicators are quality information for public managers and civil society, who now have even more autonomy to act in a strategic, integrated and active manner in pursuit of socio-environmental development. | Possibility of measuring the results of Klabin's Social Projects in the territories where it operates, and observing the positive impact of the projects on the evolution of the IPS indicators. In addition, it provides guidelines for better orientation of the company's socio-environmental investments, in addition to projecting and returning the company's image to the community and investors. |
Matas sociais program | Matas sociais program is the fulfillment of what Klabin's Sustainability Policy provides: supporting the development of the communities where we have operations. | Strengthening of family farming and assistance to rural producers in the production stages, from environmental adaptation, to support for the sale of food in local markets, including training actions, property diversification and incentives for associations and cooperatives. It is present in 16 cities in Paraná and Santa Catarina, in 2022 there were more than 1,100 properties served, with more than 4,000 people involved. The program also worked with municipalities in the Campos Gerais region to implement the Municipal Inspection System (SIM), which inspects and legalizes the sale of animal products in municipal establishments, including restaurants and hotels. |
The initiative has achieved the merit of bringing family farmers, who know how to produce and want to produce, closer to the local consumer market, which demands a large amount of horticultural products, but which unfortunately still brought these goods from more distant regions. With this, it includes family farming in the food chain and stimulates the local economy and the sustainability of production in one of the poorest regions of the State of Paraná. |
Solid waste programs | Klabin's Solid Waste Program, developed with the Caminhos do Tibagi Intermunicipal Consortium since 2012, has promoted various actions to support selective collection in seven municipalities in the Campos Gerais region, in Paraná. | -Increase in income by 63% -26% increase in recovered mass volume in year 1 -Intermunicipal Plan for Solid Waste Management (Consortium Caminhos do Tibagi - 6 municipalities) |
During the year, around 2,887 tons of material were recovered, 19.8% up on the previous year, and around 1,342 tons of paper. -Municipalities served: 6 |
The commitment to Local Development is part of our essence and is set forth in our Sustainability Policy. In practice, it is conducted based on engagement with communities through an economic, environmental and social agenda built with the participation of a wide variety of stakeholders.
Social Responsibility and Community Relations initiatives include education and training projects for the job market, family farming, regional solid waste management, as well as a program to support public management planning. All operational impacts of industries and forestry operations are identified, mitigated or reduced, fostering operation under the highest standards of sustainability. The adverse impacts are also mapped and can be consulted in Engagement Initiatives.
